The short version

Tract is a native Mac app. Speech-to-text and AI grammar correction both run entirely on your Mac. Your audio, raw transcripts, and post-processed text never leave your device. There is no cloud transcription. There is no cloud AI. There is no telemetry on what you say or write.

What we collect when you sign in

If you choose to sign in with Google so you can manage your plan from the dashboard, we receive your name, email, and profile picture from Google's OAuth flow. We store these in a managed PostgreSQL database. We do not sell, share, or otherwise transmit this data to any third party other than the auth provider that issued it (Google) and our database host.

We also store your current plan tier (free / pro) so the dashboard can show the correct page.

What we store when you join the waitlist

While the Mac app is in beta, the marketing site offers a waitlist instead of a download. If you sign up, we store your email address, which page you signed up from (for example the hero, download, or final call-to-action section), and a timestamp of when you joined. We store this in the same managed PostgreSQL database described above.

The only purpose is to send you a single notification when the Mac app is available to download. We don't send marketing blasts and we don't share this with third parties other than our database host.

We keep your waitlist email until we've notified you that the app is available, or until you ask us to remove it — whichever comes first. To be removed at any time, email us at hello@tract.app and we'll delete your entry.

What we don't collect

• Audio recordings — these never leave your Mac.
• Transcripts — never leave your Mac.
• What you dictate, type, paste, or correct.
• Which app you used Tract in.
• How often or how long you record.

Local data on your Mac

Tract keeps a local history of your transcriptions and the original audio files in your macOS application support directory. You control how long they stick around (Privacy → History retention in Settings) and can permanently delete everything at any time.

Deleting your account

Email us at privacy@tract.app and we'll remove your account and any associated server-side data within 30 days. Local data on your Mac is yours — sign out and delete the app's data folder whenever you want.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page with a new "Last updated" date when the policy changes. Material changes will be sent to your sign-in email.
